DeadlyScience pays respect to the Traditional Custodians of the land, to all Elders past and present, and to First Nations people everywhere. First Nations people have used science for over 65,000 years. Our culture is the oldest in the world. The first scientists passed on the lessons of the land, sea and sky, to the future scientists of today through stories, song and dance. We call this caring for Country. If you care for Country, the Country will care for you.

DeadlyScience Wins Two National Fundraising Awards for Kits-Mas Campaign

We’re thrilled to announce that DeadlyScience has been awarded two major honours at the 2025 Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) Awards – winning Impact on a Shoestring and the coveted Overall Most Outstanding Fundraising Project for our Kits-Mas campaign!

Launched in Christmas 2023, Kits-Mas was our first community-driven peer-to-peer fundraiser, designed to empower supporters to host their own events and raise funds to deliver microscopy kits to First Nations learners across Australia. Thanks to incredible community and corporate support, the campaign raised over $104,000, far exceeding our goal, and helped distribute 166 microscopy kits to classrooms in regional and remote communities.

Created with a “big impact, small budget” mindset, the campaign was delivered with just $6,700 in costs, alongside in-kind support from partners like Australia Post.

DeadlyScience founder Corey Tutt OAM and our Senior Manager of Marketing and Fundraising, Tara Van Toorn, credited the success to powerful community storytelling, culturally safe educational resources, and strong corporate partnerships with organisations like Mirvac, Dentsu, Paramount, Origin Energy, and Rhelm.

A heartfelt thank you to all our supporters who made Kits-Mas such a success.
